“As we see gun violence continue to rise, it is our duty to keep taking action. We decided to tackle this issue at a national level. And so today, we’re moving forward. We’re introducing legislation to implement a national freeze on handgun ownership. It will no longer be possible to buy, sell, transfer, or import handguns anywhere in Canada.” – Justin Trudeau – 2022
“This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun control. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future.” – Adolf Hitler – 1935
It is often said that “we never learn from history” but this cannot be said when it comes to the issue of gun control. Perhaps it is more accurate to suggest that we do learn from history, but that our politicians simply refuse to apply its lessons in a way that is beneficial to the general welfare.
We have long known that the road to tyranny always starts with the disarming of the general population, so, clearly, that lesson has been learned: “The one thing that unites every tyrant is that they all love gun control,” observed criminal attorney and outspoken political commentator Robert Barnes. “It doesn’t matter whether they’re Hitler, Stalin, Mao, any of them – they all love gun control.”
Politicians who insist that gun control makes the public at large safer are spreading false information, because the opposite is true and history demonstrates this as well.
However, disarming citizens of their weapons is but one step in that agenda. Propaganda, censorship, and other speech restrictions are necessary to disarm the people in more fundamental ways.
Tyrants know that once the public has been disarmed morally, disarmed intellectually, disarmed spiritually, and disarmed physically, any attempt to put the lessons of history to practical use is practically useless. Having abandoned reason and reality, no rational application of history’s lessons is possible. It is only a return to these values that will properly address any issues politicians claim can be solved by gun control.
The events of history are complex; the principles that drive them are not. The gun control narrative is a fascist fallacy – of the fascists, by the fascists and for the fascists. The history lesson to be learned is that when tyrants say “gun control works,” from their point of view they’re Just Right.
