What was once a COVID-19 pandemic has now mutated into the COVID-19 Derangement Syndrome, no doubt contracted from the same virus that causes Trump Derangement Syndrome. Together, these two syndromes symbolize our political zeitgeist.

The continued persistence of those on the Left in demanding extensions of the COVID-19 lockdown and the mandatory wearing of face masks reveals a motive unrelated to any medical concerns. Clearly, neither the statistics on SARS CoV-2 ‘cases’ nor the efficacy of wearing face masks justifies this.

The real motive, inescapably, is political, and the pandemic is a perfect mask to hide behind in order to justify unjustifiable power. The real target is U.S. president Donald Trump, who, contrary to current polls, appears to be headed for a landslide victory in the November U.S. election. And of course, Trump is calling for a complete re-opening of the economy.

Perhaps that accounts for the second wave of Trump Derangement Syndrome that is now upon us. The sheer hatred of Donald Trump spewing from the mainstream media defies all reason and logic. Whether expressed by columnists and commentators, or by members of the general public, their hatred is outrageous and irrational. Continue reading »

Celebrating the founding of one’s country should be a joyous occasion but the recent marking of Independence Day and Canada Day have been marred in both countries. In the United States, we see a concerted effort on the part of the Left and the Democratic Party to destroy their nation. In Canada, all celebrations were cancelled under the pretext of health and safety and under orders from a Prime Minister who said that Canada is the first “post-national state” which has no “core identity.”

Regardless of attempts by the Marxists of both countries to destroy the very foundations of their nationhood people in the United States were treated to a magnificent display at Mount Rushmore by a truly patriotic president. In Canada we witnessed a gathering of some 10,000 patriots on Parliament Hill, defying the dictates of their unpatriotic rulers.

Professor Salim Mansur was one of those on Parliament Hill in Ottawa who exercised his right to freely assemble and his right to protest the actions of a Prime Minister bent on destroying his country. He also was uplifted by President Donald Trump’s speech at Mount Rushmore—a speech that praised the United States as a nation founded on reason and equality for all.

In this interview, Professor Mansur tells us of his trip to Ottawa to be with his fellow patriots on Canada Day and he offers us his analyses of President Trump’s stirring speech in defense of heroes.

More than being a demonstrated lifesaving treatment in fighting the COVID-19 virus (SARS CoV-2), hydroxychloroquine has now become a symbol of the fundamental political divide regarding the government-mandated lockdown.

Donald Trump’s recent announcement that he is personally using hydroxychloroquine was a direct challenge to negative mainstream media narratives about the drug. It was also a direct attack against those on the Left determined to keep the COVID-19 lockdown in effect for as long as possible, no matter how many people may die or suffer in the process.

In many jurisdictions around the world, it may appear that the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown is slowly ending, but the reality is that it is incrementally being extended – indefinitely – as politicians seek to entrench their recently exercised undemocratic powers over the rest of us. Political threats to repeatedly shut down areas of the economy on the basis of future COVID-19 statistics means that the economy may never be able to recover.

Tragically, at the root of all the shutdown strategies lies a single priority: the protection of healthcare ‘systems,’ a priority placed above that of protecting the lives of the people forced to deal with those systems. When the pandemic began, ‘flattening the curve’ to prevent hospitals from being overrun was the first and only stated objective of the shutdown. Today, the continued rationale for the shutdown is anybody’s guess, as it can change by the hour, and often does. But the priority hasn’t changed even though politicians insist their motivations are based on ‘saving lives.’

By placing the public spotlight on his use of hydroxychloroquine, Trump boldly demonstrated how ‘saving lives’ is not the goal of the mainstream media or the Left. Once again, Trump brilliantly did what was Just Right: he exposed the hypocrisy of those who claim to be motivated by ‘saving lives’ while simultaneously opposed to the use of that which is life-saving.

Who can we believe? The growing gap between projected cases of COVID-19 in statistical models and the contrary evidence being revealed by daily accumulating data is becoming impossible to ignore.

Similarly, the permanent gap between Left and Right has also become impossible to ignore. Those on the Left want the shutdown to continue indefinitely, since that serves their communist and fascist ideologies of state control, prohibition, and censorship. The COVID-19 shutdown is a Leftist’s wildest dream come true. Those on the Right insist that the shutdowns be ended, claiming that there is no longer a need to do so in light of the fact that all of the fears originally justifying them are no longer an issue.

But more and more, the COVID-19 crisis is looking like a déjà vu of the climate change crisis, the United Nations-led conspiracy to destroy capitalism on a global scale.

Indeed, the very same propaganda tactics and terminology for fighting climate change are now being used for fighting the coronavirus. For example, what were once ‘climate change deniers’ are now ‘coronavirus deniers.’ Continue reading »

644 – Gone coronaviral—The infectious politics of spreading fear and panic

Ever since isolated incidents of ‘coronavirus’ have begun appearing outside of China, much of the mainstream and social media alike have gone ‘coronaviral’ by needlessly spreading fear and panic about the flu-like illness. Yet, the real disease that should be feared is China’s political ideology which may have more to do with the breakout of coronavirus than the virus itself.

As our guest Salim Mansur explains, China has been identified as the world’s premier incubator of new infectious flu strains, including: the 1918-19 Spanish flu, the 1957 Asian flu, the Hong Kong flu of 1968, the Russian flu of 1997, the SARS outbreak of 2003, and most recently, the global spread of coronavirus originating in Wuhan. To Salim, this is not surprising. Having himself visited China from its coastal cities to its deepest interior, Salim has witnessed horrifying conditions unimaginable to most of us.

With entire cities of millions being shut down and quarantined, China’s actions have included rounding up, imprisoning, and even shooting its own citizens who were caught walking in the streets. Remarkably, China’s government has been praised by many Western leaders for its handling of the outbreak.

There is a tragic and outrageous irony in this. In the Western nations, the outbreak of coronavirus has been politicized so as to place blame on the Trump administration in the United States, with the mainstream media and those on the Left going so far as to call it the ‘Trump virus.’ Yet, the only justifiable ‘politicization’ of this outbreak falls squarely on China’s communist regime, and on the globalist politicians who have failed to take the appropriate measures to limit its spread. Dr. Salim Mansur, Professor Emeritus at Western University, comments on US President Donald Trump’s momentous visit to India and the positive reaction given Trump by the Indian people and that country’s leadership.

Salim notes the stark contrast between the adulation which Donald Trump received during his visit and the tawdry and juvenile coverage of the historic event made by the mainstream American media and to the clownish antics exhibited by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when he visited India in 2018.

641 – Freedom Forward – Philosophy’s indispensable role in determining the Right Direction

There is a widespread belief – particularly among advocates of freedom and capitalism – that individual freedom and individual rights will spontaneously emerge if nations gradually adopt various forms of capitalism, freer markets, and/or more private economic initiatives. Yet, many socialist, fascist and communist jurisdictions have done exactly this, but nevertheless remained socialist, fascist or communist. While their economies may have become more ‘efficient,’ their people still do not enjoy individual rights, having ironically been turned into ‘slaves’ of a state-directed economic ‘efficiency.’

Additionally, there is a certain ‘literalism’ on the philosophic front, with many freedom advocates rejecting the best political alternative on the basis of some kind of philosophical impurity or inconsistency on the part of a given politician or party.

This is dangerous thinking, and can lead to unwarranted feelings of futility, frustration, and cynicism regarding political action in general. It is an affliction that most affects those on the Right, and is in part responsible for the continuing ascendancy of the Left and the erosion of our freedoms. Continue reading »
